5 Minute New Year Solutions

Collage made with Enlight and WordSwag apps

New Year’s resolutions last about 5 minutes, right? That’s why they’re REsolutions—we REpeat them until we finally give up.

Don’t make 2018 frustrating. Instead, make it a great year with these 5-minute and under solutions.

Own Your Day in 5 Minutes

At the beginning of each day (before emails, news or social media), take 5 minutes to set the day’s priorities.

Establish a homecoming ritual to unwind after work: Sit down with a pet, kid, mate, friend, cup of tea or Bible and enjoy the moment before beginning the next part of your day.

At the end of each day, write one thing you’re glad you did. Put it on a calendar or in a journal, so you can appreciate it all over again next December 31.

Take 5

Before correcting or contradicting someone, or refrain completely in situations that aren’t life-altering.

Before sending an email, posting or speaking in a tense situation.

Before getting a snack.

To walk or stretch every 50 minutes.

To grab a glass of water and lotion your skin.

To look at clouds and talk to God.

To call a friend.

To visualize yourself at the completion of a current goal – see it, hear it, feel it, smell it, taste it!

Pay 5

Compliments each week (or day) on actions or attitudes you notice. Catch people being honorable, talented, compassionate, or diligent.

May this year find you wiser and more resilient than any year before. To ensure that, spend time every day with the One who knows you and sees the road ahead. My book and journal, Wisdom – Better than Wishing, can help you. If you’d like to host a small group study, I’d be happy to provide a free Leader’s Guide and videos with each set of 7 books and journals.
